Taking down Confederate monuments is not erasing history - it's declaring that some parts of history belong in a museum, not on a pedestal.

Please remember that fascism is relentless by design. It is not an accident that the bad news is relentless. They want you to burn out. They want you so tired and sad you never show up to protest them. Rest is resistance. Don't let exhaustion do you in.

This is possibly the only good thing happening in North America right now.
A soft-rock station in Vancouver has been playing "Killing In the Name Of" by Rage Against the Machine for hours on a loop. Whenever someone calls in for a request, they deny it and replay the Rage song again. kissradio.ca/

Can we call the SCOTUS a threat to life on earth yet? It kinda seems like we reached that line today, no?

This SCOTUS, specifically. Not the institution in general, but the court as it exists today.

As someone who watched Roe get overturned last week just as I reached my 8th month of pregnancy, seeing these “we will adopt your baby” signs is such a glaring reminder of how little the anti-choice movement cares or thinks about the actual lives & experiences of pregnant women.

Despite what you may have read in your abstinence-only textbook, babies don’t magically appear wrapped in a bow. So when your response to Roe getting overturned is to offer to adopt someone’s baby, what you’re really saying is, “I want to use you as an incubator.”

Pregnancy is life-changing, brutal, & full of unexpected risks, even under the best of circumstances. This is my 2nd “easy” but high-risk pregnancy. I accepted an elevated-but-unknown risk of death from a rare vascular condition because I wanted to be a mother. My choice.

But what if I didn’t want to be a mother? Oh, you’ll adopt my baby? Let’s talk about what that actually means. First, it means forcing me to accept a non-trivial risk of death so you can have a baby. And you think that’s … generous? No one that selfish should be a parent.

Besides the whole “this could actually kill me” aspect, there are also countless non-fatal yet extremely consequential and sometimes irreversible effects of pregnancy that you want to force another woman to undergo on your behalf. Adopting the baby doesn’t cancel those out.

Doctor’s appointments. Medical bills. Missed work. Uncomfortable vaginal exams. Nerve pain. Excessive sleep. Insomnia. Nausea. Migraines. Trauma. Postpartum depression. These are just a few of the things you aren’t even acknowledging yet want to force someone else to endure.

There’s a widespread belief that the experience of pregnancy makes women more likely to oppose abortion. Personally, it has made me realize that no one who would force another human to unwillingly endure this ever deserves to be a parent.

Also keep in mind that coordinated attacks on Cassidy Hutchinson could be viewed as a form of witness intimidation. This is how Trump world warns potential future witnesses of what they’ll face if they speak up.

One of the goals of disinformation campaigns like the one targeting Cassidy Hutchinson is to discredit the significant points of her testimony by calling into question details about the less-significant/insignificant points. Stay focused on the big picture, which isn’t in doubt.

A high volume of content may overwhelm/intimidate witnesses, confuse the public, and/or bury credible reporting. A strategy might include influencers, hyperpartisan media, targeted ads, and platform manipulation (Ex. trending topics).

Right-wing/pro-Trump media & social media influencers have launched a full-fledged disinformation campaign targeting Cassidy Hutchinson. This only works if serious news reporters take the bait & uncritically repeat their lies. Please don’t do that. washingtonpost.com/technolog…

“Amber Heard 2.0” is trending b/c Trump supporters can’t refute the substance of Cassidy Hutchinson’s damning testimony, so they’re using misogyny to discredit her. Remember that hostile sexism was among the strongest predictors of Trump support in 2016. washingtonpost.com/news/monk…
