Angry, but not surprised, that NYorks has yet again for the 7th yr running the highest level of confirmed raptor killings in the whole of the UK. 2020 and its lockdowns may have been a great year for many birds, but not for 137 of our beautiful and supposedly protected raptors!
It’s still rife……. This really is just the tip of the iceberg. I sadly still meet a lot of landowners who just won’t tolerate predators of any sort - the UK’s appreciation and understanding of predators saddens me
RSPB reveals that 2020 was the worst year on record for raptor persecution in the UK, with 2/3 of confirmed incidents taking place on land used for game bird shooting.
@MairiGougeon@scotgov must ensure licencing is robust with no loopholes that gamekeepers can (+ will) exploit!
We’re absolutely delighted that a Golden Eagle has been spotted flying through the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve!!
Hopefully this will the the first of many future sightings! 🦅
The image used is not of the bird seen today.

“the Raptor Persecution Priority Delivery Group (RPPDG) is the least effective. In fact it’s achieved absolutely nothing of any use towards the protection and conservation of birds of prey in the UK in its 11-year existence” if true then surely @Natures_Voice should leave group
The Countryside Alliance CEO was with the defendant at the court case, and stated publicly that he believed the legal case would fail because he ‘did nothing wrong’. Any replacement CA rep for this group (or any of the others) would be laughable.
Absolutely the correct decision to make, in fact there was no real alternative to getting rid of a member who evidence showed on balance of probabilities was breaking the law. Other organisations should follow this example.
Well @MoorlandAssoc are at least consistent - deny, obfuscate, misrepresent and just plain make stuff up. Anybody who knows anything about raptor persecution knows exactly what is going on here - better regulation & real accountabilty badly needed!
