This can't be repeated often enough.
The root cause of poverty is capitalism and greed. Poverty can be eradicated not by the “private sector”, but by our collective governments implementing laws, oversight, and taxation on corporations to stop them from exploiting our planet, communities and people.

Make this make sense.
3,600 gun deaths a year in Texas: you can carry gun without permit or training 16 false registrations out of 11 million votes in 2020: you can’t register online, vote by mail or drop off your ballot

In the last year, rents are up 12%. Home prices are up 23%. It's not the 25-cent burger price increases that are killing people. It's that 40% of their income is now going to a private equity landlord and they have no shot at saving up for a house to build wealth.

Everybody should read this. Then think about the women of Texas.
Susan Roesel: I was 30 years old. I was married. We were happy. We were established. Our 401k runneth over. We decided to start a family. I got pregnant right away. Like right away. We were over the moon. I kept a journal of every day of the magic. I got a bump. …

I'd say being confronted in a bathroom is what someone should expect when they've made themselves unreachable otherwise. I'd say being confronted is the least possible consequence of deliberately creating a nation of desperate people whose suffering you could ease but won't.

Before the pandemic, there was 1 person worth $100 billion. Now there are 10. Before the pandemic, those 10 people were worth $650 billion. Now they are worth $1.4 trillion. And the Senate is ready to shut down the government and deny vital services to avoid taxing them at all.

My daughter's best friend is in ICU with hypoxemia. She has long haul Covid. They cannot get her O2 above 90 even with 4 breathing treatments and steroids. She can't even complete a sentence. They are now looking at her heart. She is 24 and has a 2 year old. She was vaxed.

If we are going to audit Texas, can we at least audit Kentucky while we’re at it? There is no fucking way Mitch McConnell was re-elected.

Wow. I can kinda see why all the white supremacists want to hide these atrocities. We must continue to learn more.
It was a dark and stormy night... (I’ve always wanted to tweet that) But seriously, there was a tropical storm when a group of people gathered in the woods. If they were white, we’d call them “founding fathers” but they were slaves who were about to change the world A thread
