Thank you @POTUS for acting as two of the most critical ports in the country face a record surge in cargo shipments. I look forward to working closely with the administration to address the remaining challenges in transporting goods to homes and businesses.
Today I’m announcing that the Port of LA will begin operating around the clock 24/7 to make sure Americans can get the goods they need. My Administration is working around the clock to move more goods faster and strengthen the resiliency of our supply chains.

@POTUS says the U.S. will double its current annual commitment to help vulnerable countries deal with climate impacts and move away from fossil fuels. That would make the WH commitment roughly $11b. Some background here: washingtonpost.com/climate-e…

Congratulations to Judge Lucy H. Koh on her historic nomination. If confirmed, Judge Koh would be the first Korean-American woman to serve as a federal appellate judge and the second #AAPI woman to serve on the Ninth Circuit from California. #AAPIpride #NinthCircuit #LucyKoh

OSHA “forces” regular surveillance (X-rays, pulmonary function tests, physical exam) for individuals working around asbestos because asbestos poses an occupational threat to health and safety. OSHA requiring weekly COVID surveillance for all unvaccinated workers isn’t a stretch.
If the federal government can force private businesses to be the vaccine police, what is next? Not in Georgia!

Time to drop the idea that Biden's tax hikes on the rich are radical. They're a recalibration of a system that was already badly skewed for the rich. It's doubly galling that some Ds say taxing big inheritances will hurt family farms. @paulwaldman1 and me washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

Grateful to @POTUS for making his first trip to California as president to survey the damage of the #CaldorFire. And he's right: with more frequent & destructive wildfires raging, we must act boldly and broadly to fight the climate crisis—no more delays. sacbee.com/news/politics-gov…

I fully support @POTUS’ announcement requiring vaccines for federal employees before returning to the office. The approved COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, available at no cost & critical to curbing the surging Delta variant. Make an appointment⬇️ vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov/

As hard as today is, it can also be a time for hope. Every year on this day, students from @GeorgetownCR @GUCollegeDems & @BipartisanHoyas come together to plant about 3000 flags on campus in memory. Many of these students were infants or not yet born on 9/11/01. #NeverForget

Thank you @GovMurphy for supporting this mission. I join the President in grateful prayer for our troops and diplomats, network of volunteers and veterans, and Afghan allies who we’ll welcome to new homes around the world and in the U.S.
As U.S. Ambassador to Germany, I saw firsthand the bravery of our men and women in Afghanistan. We join @POTUS in thanking our troops, diplomats, volunteers, and veterans who completed this mission, and we welcome our Afghan allies to NJ and their new homes here in our nation.

As an Army doctor, I know that war is brutal. While many people will continue to need help in the coming weeks and months, I am relieved America's longest war has finally come to an end. My full statement:
