I’ve always found it fun to engage with readers on Twitter and have learned much from the many royal fans on here. But, with the exception of a few I have known for years, I’ve decided I will only now engage with those who share their real identities. Thanks!

I started using Twitter in 2009, mainly because I thought it’d be fun to give a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the strange life of a royal correspondent. It’s a different platform now, often toxic. I’m not sure it brings me or my employer any commercial value. I won’t be paying.

Is Prince Andrew planning to write a book with journalist Daphne Barak, a friend of @SarahTheDuchess, and the source of many a story about his current woes? It’s hard to check facts about Andrew at the moment. Neither he nor his office responds to press calls. But friends deny it

The Independent, which used to pride itself on ignoring the royals but now has a very well-connected editor-in-chief in my old colleague @Geordie_Greig, cites friends of Andrew today saying: “He has one aim and that is family unity around his brother the King.”

The friends add: “He is rock solid with him and will do everything he can to support him quietly and if necessary publicly. The idea that he is even considering writing or cooperating with a book least of all with a journalist is for the birds."

There’s extensive coverage and analysis in today’s Daily Express of Prince William’s trip to Poland, which has rattled the Russians. Meanwhile, the King and Queen Consort’s state visit to France next week looks increasingly likely to be disrupted by protests against Macron.
