Minister @McConalogue and Minister @pippa_hackett, as members of the farming community, would you not be concerned at the lack of balance in the approach by DAFM to achieving licence targets? #SaveIrishForestry 3/3

Sadly, in recent years this potential has been undermined by a lack of vision and leadership in the Forest Service. A key step in addressing this leadership vacuum would be the establishment of an FDA with the powers to make changes to enable the sector to meet its potential.

Overall it is disappointing to see that in the first 4 months of 2022 that DAFMs @agriculture_ie licencing plan is not achieving its targets for farmers and private forest owners. 2/3

With a quarter of the year gone, DAFM is already 40% behind their own target. Minister @pippa_hackett, will you hit your own target? 2/2 #SaveIrishForestry

To conclude our previous posts - The licencing system designed by the forest service remains dysfunctional and cannot provide enough afforestation licences to meet Government targets. Changes are required within the forest service as this is simply not working! @pippa_hackett

Senator Hackett, please explain such a difference, and why farmer forest owners are losing out so much? Can you please explain why farmer forest owners are being victimised, and will this trend continue in March? 2/2 #SaveIrishForestry

The weekly dashboard in that respect is a mirror image of the department’s performance for a decade now, repeated failure, and literally no accountability. 3/3 #SaveIrishForestry

Senator @pippa_hackett, how do you expect forest owners to thin early when they cannot get a licence to thin from your Department? Senator – Time for action rather than self-promoting photo shoots. #SaveIrishForestry

but in real terms, farmers need a license to harvest and sell timber and Senator Hackett is doing nothing to resolve this licensing scandal. Senator, please do something other than attend photo opportunities. 2/2 #SaveIrishForestry

“Fail to prepare, prepare to fail” Minister @pippa_hackett has made sure her department, has issued enough licences to Coillte, but did not even consider the requirements of the private sector, mainly farmers. Laurel and Hardy would be embarrassed. #SaveIrishForestry

The forestry industry requires a minimum of 7,500 licences in 2022 to trade and maintain employment in the sector @agriculture_ie @pippa_hackett @McConalogue @MichealMartinTD #SaveIrishForestry
