For those who haven't read the article, it is not advocating this approach & highlights multiple problems which it would cause. But it has been considered by some senior unionist figures & from what I can establish is legally possible, given the messy legislation - & that's news.
UUP leader Doug Beattie has said categorically that he will not be part of any post-election attempt to unite the unionist parties for one day to prevent a SF first minister - something possible under the law, but now highly unlikely in practice.
We won’t be doing it Sam….. we confirmed the ruling 3 weeks ago & were told it was extant. Either way mate, I stand by what I say & I will not be involved in this if the mental gymnastics say it can be done.
