WOW. Gov. Hochul's budget director Robert Mujica just admitted that increased taxes on the wealthiest NYers have *NOT* led to those NYers moving out of NY.
This is exactly the opposite of the fearmongering he did under Gov. Cuomo to try to put these proposals (now laws) on ice.
If you are serious about paying the heroes of the pandemic what they deserve, you will fully fund #FairPayforHomeCare. You have the power to end New York’s worst in the nation home care workforce shortage with the stroke of a pen.
.@GovKathyHochul missed a chance to end our state's worst-in-the-nation home care workforce shortage - this leaves older adults and disabled people in danger.
We now call on the State legislature to save lives by including #FairPay4HomeCare in the final budget
"Let me say to Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker & to all of my Jewish viewers... you are not alone. We have your back. And in this moment of fear, hate, & violence, you *can* count on the rest of us."
Me, on @MSNBC, on showing solidarity against antisemitism:
“I think the tragedy is that we have a Congress with a Senate that has a minority of misguided senators who will use the filibuster to keep the majority of people from even voting.” —Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., 1963
When GOP quotes MLK remind them they threw their lot in with a man whose father was a member of the KKK, who was sued by DOJ for racial discrimination, who uses racist epithets and who built Trump Soho on the site of an abolitionist church in NYC which should have been protected.
Front page of @HuffPost right now. All 3 speeches by the Kings (including 13 year old Yolanda!) were timely, direct, and heavy with moral force. Highly recommend folks watch and forward to everyone you know in Arizona.
You think Republican racism started with Trump? Think again:
Listen to Ronald Reagan’s long-hidden racist conversation with Richard Nixon - In newly unearthed audio, the then–California governor disparaged African delegates to the United Nations.
“While I...am not old enough to vote, this fight is personal for me. It’s our future these elected leaders are deciding. It’s our voices they are trying to silence because they know our voices are powerful,” Yolanda Renee King says on MLK Day. abcn.ws/3FCeEVO
BREAKING: West Virginia faith leaders & citizens are shutting down MLK Way in our state capitol. As King family have said––No #MLKDay celebration without legislation. We're making Good Trouble to tell Joe Manchin: fix the filibuster + pass the John Lewis Freedom to Vote Act now!
You know, the late, great Elijah Cummings saw something very special in @AOC ... he saw talent, determination, skill, work ethic, intelligence. I know this beacuse he told me in one of the last conversations I ever had with him. Democrats should try and see in her what he did.
Sending love to all of the pulpit rabbis and all of the Jews who will go back to shul this week and next week and every week knowing that some antisemitic attacker could target our shul next, and knowing how many generations of Jews have taken risks to worship.
