.@TheTodayShow spoke with solicitor @Rhanee__ Rego about the science by Academy Fellow @carovinuesa & colleagues that prompted the Academy and more than 150 scientists – including 3 Nobel Laureates – to call for Kathleen #Folbigg to be released from jail. 9now.nine.com.au/today/kathl…
If you missed me this morning on @TheTodayShow you can watch via the 9Now app: 9now.com.au/today/2022/clip-… I am confident @MarkSpeakman will apply the law appropriately and pardon #KathleenFolbigg. Our confidence in the administration of justice in NSW depends on it.

Just wow! Throughout history we've peered into the heart of the Milky Way and wondered what's there. Well, now we've seen it, and our nearby supermassive black hole cannot be unseen 🤩 Enjoy 🌑 @ausphysics @ARC_OzGRav @WomenSciAUST @ourANU @ANUmedia @PhysicsANU (pic Olive+Maeve)

The image of the black hole, known as Sagittarius A*, is the first direct visual evidence of the presence of this giant – which is four million times more massive than our Sun. This new view confirms a prediction of Einstein’s theory that black holes are basically all the same.

Academy Fellow Prof Susan Scott (@Our_ANU) says the image bears remarkable similarity to the first image obtained by the EHT of the supermassive black hole in the galaxy M87, even though that black hole is about 1,000 times larger. Learn more:
