My first thought is that compensation should be whatever the state's governor makes but at $70-225K that seems light. Now I think it should be whatever the state's highest paid public employee makes (usu a sports coach). So it would be about $3M per year in Missouri. Sounds right
The federal standard for compensation is $50,000 for each year of wrongful imprisonment. The majority of states with a compensation law — including Indiana, Alabama and Texas — provide that or more.
Missouri, however, caps the payments at $36,500 a year.
