The worsening drought crisis across the west is an existential threat to our communities and livelihoods. This Administration is doing everything we can to disrupt this cycle, minimize drought impacts and develop a long-term plan to facilitate conservation and economic growth.
Today, @Interior announced urgent actions to improve and protect the long-term sustainability of the Colorado River System in the face of climate change-driven drought, extreme heat and low precipitation. doi.gov/pressreleases/interi…

I had a wonderful visit with the @NatlParkService staff at @SleepingBearNPS last week. While we toured the park, families were enjoying the beautiful lake shore and the paths were easy to travel on thanks to investments in accessibility over the years.

Today, we honor the Navajo Code Talkers. Soldiers from more than 30 Tribes used their languages during the war effort, contributing to the U.S.’s victory at a time when Native people still didn’t have equal rights. Their patriotism kept our homelands safe. nps.gov/articles/navajo-code…

Federal Indian boarding school policies have touched every Indigenous person I know. Some are survivors, some are descendants, but we all carry the trauma in our hearts.

We took the time to mourn, to remember lost members of our communities, and to acknowledge the intergenerational trauma that still exists. This healing will not be done overnight, but it can be done—sharing our stories and experiences is a part of that journey.

We’re another step closer to achieving @POTUS’ ambitious goals to tackle the climate crisis while lowering costs for working families and creating good-paying jobs!
Today, the American people won. Special interests lost. With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in the House, families will see lower prescription drug prices, lower health care costs, and lower energy costs. I look forward to signing it into law next week.
