So @MarkMcGowanMP, now that Omicron is clearly spreading in WA, don’t you think it’s time to act? We are on track to follow NSW and Vic unless action is taken now to slow the spread. Our bubble has burst and NSW shows that if you let it rip the consequences will be dire.

All new local cases in WA today have been linked to previous cases. With the hard border still in place, the strongest vaccination mandates in the country, mask mandates etc WA is hardly taking a let it rip approach. Def need more messaging around need for better N95/P2 masks.

WA gov needs do do proper campaign about masks- I'm sure if more people knew the dramatic difference between a homemade mask/surgical mask and even a KN95 (which are easier to find than N95 at the moment), they would make the switch and slow transmission @MarkMcGowanMP @walabor

Absolutely. It has been a glaring omission from the messaging. Vaccines alone ain’t going to cut it when it comes to Omicron (& whatever comes next) I’m afraid.

There are adds playing now, I'm watching tennis on 9 channels. Good adds I my view.

Completely agree. Their website even says “N95 and P2 respirators are only recommended for healthcare workers or specific industries in specific circumstances.” 🙄 healthywa.wa.gov.au/Articles…

And how about introducing mask wearing indoors to the rest of the state BEFORE cases emerge @MarkMcGowanMP

I make sure my elderly parents wear P2's. They thought the cloth masks were fine. Also buying them a portable hepa air purifier for their house, as the home help still visit them - they wear surgical masks.

Yep advice needs to come from @CHO_WAHealth OR he needs to brief premier and health minister hasn’t been clear and consistent messaging on masks and efficacy of different types
