Now that I have your attention, let's give the Black Hills back to The Lakota. You can begin with the reading of United States v. Sioux Nation of Indians, in which the United States Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. had illegally appropriated the Black Hills.

I ask that you do your part in seeking out reading materials, as this is only one example of broken treaties I've witnessed since long before you were born. But I'll get you started with this article from the Smithsonian. smithsonianmag.com/smithsoni…

DECLINE TO SIGN! Keep an eye out this week for petition circulators trying to collect signatures for Betsy DeVos' school voucher scheme, as they have no problem lying to unsuspecting people. Don't sign it! Please SHARE and spread the word! #MichEd #MILeg

Read carefully @FinchelsteinF’s thread. These ideas were at the core of the extremely interesting discussion of our @Gripe_1918 conference at the @univgirona. The book will be published in 2023 in @routledgebooks. Stay tuned! 😉
Fascism, history and pandemics...it is extremely peculiar that fascism emerged in the years of the "Spanish Flu" pandemic & yet it never conceived itself & was never was conceived later as post-pandemic.

So, here's a thought. Cherish your democracy as imperfect as it is. Cherish your right to live, think, speak and act without looking over your shoulder. Do everything you can to protect it. Make it better, so that it works for everyone. Because it's so dark on the other side.

Iceland is the world’s biggest consumer of SSRIs. They’ve had 5 gun homicides since 2020; in the US, there have been over 30,000 in that time. Japan is one of the largest video game markets in the world. They have only 10 shooting deaths a year; the US has 40,000. It’s the guns
What drugs and/or psychiatric drugs was he on for his mind to be ruined in alternate reality games that caused him to commit a mass shooting? His parents know. The police know. School, arrest, hospital records? The public DESERVES to know.

Another reason to protect large/old trees -- the microclimate changes dramatically when canopy trees are removed, becoming warmer, drier, windier and more sun-exposed -- conditions that are much more conducive to high intensity fires.
@ninacferrari up in the trees again at @HJA_Live HJ Andrews @USLTER. She is asking: how does microclimate change across a vertical gradient in old-growth versus plantation forests? What are the implications for bird community structure?

Over this fire season we'll hear from many ppl how 'lack of active mgmt' is a primary factor if not cause of wildfires like the Washburn fire burning now in Yosemite National Park (YNP). What you likely won't hear about... 1/n 🧵

One thing people should know about this report is that there are MORE active projects than just the 10 listed here. A lengthier list is in development and will come out later.
"More than 240,000 acres of big, carbon-trapping trees are on the chopping block, according to a report issued on Tuesday." @WHCEQ @USDA @Interior #ClimateForests thehill.com/policy/equilibri…

@POTUS And REQUIRE all drug stores to sell it. Because birth control pills have been legally available over the counter in California since 2016, but pharmacies have yet to offer them without Rx.

Today, I'm urging the President to take federal action to make birth control available over the counter, without a prescription. We must act now. In the wake of losing Roe, we must pull out all the stops and knock down costly barriers to securing contraception.
