You guys ever think that the push for “abstinence only” education is not about protecting kids but about protecting abusers and not having kids realize what’s being done to them in their communities? 1/

Exactly, this is all by design. This also lowers the teaching standards and let’s religious zealots find their way into classrooms to teach what *they* deem is “appropriate”

Florida is going to find themselves without teachers — which is exactly what the Republicans want. #VoteBlue

They really don’t want kids to have access to books w/out pre-approval - how much do you want to bet that the “vetting process” for book skews conservative and right wing? Ridiculous

*Parents can request alternative instructional materials for ANYTHING we teach *If we want to read anything to our kids, we have to get it approved in advance *Don’t give kids any gifts tied to reading *Our amazing librarian can’t even do read alouds with our youngest students

My position on “late term abortions for convenience” is similar to my position on brain transplants. I don’t have one because they don’t exist.

It’s been shown that kids w/ comprehensive sex Ed are more likely to report sexual abuse bc they recognize what’s being done to them and are emboldened to report. Is this why there’s a push to keep kids from receiving factual information? 2/2

Every day 2-3 major incidents happen, and it's hard to keep track of all of them. When they do happen they don't get the attention they deserve because they are becoming so common.

Just another example of how we treat veterans. LEOs in the US are out of control.

I just wrote a long, thoughtful thread on how the Republicans screwed over my husband and 3.5 million other post-9/11 veterans by refusing healthcare eligibility to those exposed to toxic burn pits. I closed out of it before it sent--so y'all stuck with this IDGAF version.

We are a society that keeps trying to solve homelessness with everything other than homes. It’s like believing that food doesn’t solve hunger.
