No my issue is with the fandom buying into the notion that has plagued our politics for decades now. That notion of "If my team says it, its true" no question its just 100% a fact to you. Fisher could come out tomorrow and name any random person and claim they where racist to-
him and the lot of you would just accept that as fact even if he had never spoken or met the person before. You would all be screaming that the person should be utterly destroyed personally and professionally for saying something, that was never said. If a women came out today-
with a credible accusation of sexual assault by Fisher, with video. You would all call her a whore and every other name you could think of to defend Fisher without ever thinking critically on it because he is on "Your team"
My issue is with the lack of critical thinking and -
worship of celebrity. You lot praise Snyder as the best director, writer, etc in human history when the dude is sold B- on his best day he has tons of issues but he is "Your guy" so he is flawless and you will demonize anyone who goes against that.
Here is a summary. I am willing to give benefit of the doubt that while Whedon has done bad things he is not the devil. I have also had experiences were I say things that get misunderstood or come of wrong so I can relate. The difference between Whedon and I is that I can -
apologize and accept I was not being clear or I said something unintentionally offending (like calling a pregnant woman fat as a joke because you thought your relationship was closer than it was). Whedon needs counseling and to accept his flaws. But he is not evil.
I have, have you? See the thing is being that I understand whats its like being socially awkward and dealing with traumas of my own. I understand saying something, and it being completely misunderstood. Telling a story and the point being missed entirely. Now amplify that by-
bad actors who are intentionally looking to take things the wrong way and you have a lot of issues arising. I am aro/ace so I would never have sex with anyone on set. But I can also see situations through the lens of social confusion. Such as seeing a pregnant former colleague-
and making a joke about their weight. Friends joke about things like that all the time. But if you believe you a closer to someone than you are your playful jokes can come off as mean spirited, rude, or even offensive. In general I get being a flawed human being. Guess you're -
Proof huh? There is no proof, there is not witnesses, no video, no audio. No proof. There is allegations, there are the words of flawed humans who could say things for any number of reasons good and bad. Fisher claimed he had proof and never provided it. So all he has is an -
allegation. Charisma as well. Though I will point out I am more likely to believe Charisma and the others than Fisher, Fisher has a vested interest in an active situation that means he benefits from lying more than they would.
Yeah you can see it as that, he is the devil in your version of the story. I am well enough educated to see that someone who at 57 still holds onto a trauma from 52 years ago is likely not mentally well. But we both know what you would do if someone accused Fisher of misconduct-
on set. You would justify it, defend it, victim blame, harass the victim, send death threats, etc. Its what people as invested as you are do when someone "Attacks" your religion. Look at how quickly the "Believe Women" crowd flipped on that when someone accused Biden of assault-
during the election. Suddenly it was "Believe Women, Except that one she is a lying whore!" because they went after their figurehead, their idol. Its the same way for Whedons fans and for Fisher/Snyders fans. You outright refuse to ever accept that your guy was likely as guilty-
of manipulation, abuse, and unprofessionalism as Whedon was on set. Whedon has just been doing this for a lot longer so there are more cases. Here is the fact in all this. ANY abuse is wrong. And that means even if Fisher was a prick too.
to attack them. That is a flaw in YOU not Whedon. Whedon has done a lot of bad things. Morally wrong in many ways. But I don't see him as the devil like the Snyder fandom does. If Affleck had been made director after snyder and had to produce a 2 hour hard cut. You would all hate
him too. Because you would see him cutting the movie at all as a betrayal. Do I believe Gadot, Fisher, Affleck and the rest were egotistical assholes who mistreated a substitute director like shit? Oh 100%, its the step-dad analogy all over. Do I think Whedon was just as much-
an asshole oh absolutely. If it had been me there I would have cut Cyborg out entirely on principal of an asshole actor thinking he could boss me around. I am able to see both sides as assholes and just as abusive to one another. You see one side as angels and the other as Devil.
