McConnell's debt limit stance is lunacy: It's a *threat to vote for default.* That's what filibustering a DL hike means. This is being cast as a dilemma for Dems. That's only true in that GOP recklessness/bad faith creates a dilemma for responsible actors: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

We don't have to accept the idea that GOP filibusters and bad faith are natural, inevitable features of our governing order and political life, ones in which Republicans supposedly have no agency and which Dems are singlehandly responsible for overcoming. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

The Mitch McConnell Rules of Governance: 1. Mitch does whatever Mitch wants, no matter how destructive it is for the country & democracy 2. See Rule 1.

What, if anything, has changed since the "Winner Take All" political analysis? Sure, we don't "have to accept" this as normal, but it is, and how do we change it?

I’ve been paying attention to politics since before voting for Carter in 1980. No, this is not the natural way of things.

We need a new constitution. Really. We need to reckon with the fact that the one we have is obsolete and doesn't work anymore.

@NicolleDWallace has been banging this drum re numerous issues. She rightly asks, why is it that #GQP creates the mess and then Dems are always expected to fix it? That’s the big, continuing issue.

This is true, but it is your colleagues in the press who need to hear this lesson and apply it to their work - not your readers.

The filibuster is a simple cheat code. Eliminate that and watch dialogue and statesmanship return as a way of doing things in Congress. RePUGnicans rely on holes the system rather than in governance, because they can only succeed by acting in bad faith.
