Exactly 835 years ago, on the 4th of July in 1187 CE, Ṣālaḥ al-Dīn al-Ayyūbī freed Masjid al-Aqṣa from the hands of the crusaders. This picture (taken now!) is the original miḥrāb and calligraphy commissioned by him, and commemorates the liberation. May Allah free it again!
