Brexit has lead to 4285 fewer European doctors choosing to joining the NHS - at a time when we're short of over 10,000 NHS doctors. And a staggering 58,000 fewer European nurses have joined. What a spectacular act of national self-harm 😔 theguardian.com/society/2022…

Or to rephrase, Brexit has reduced the number of nurses we asset strip from poorer EU members by 58,000. An advanced nation of 70 million people should train its own nurses.

I agree, the NHS and govt would rather import staff who someone else has paid to train.
We still down 58k nurses 🤷‍♂️

The government limiting the number of training places is fair criticism, but the NMC states that nurse numbers went up last year.
Which are the poorer EU countries? UK might be heading there.

Which are those 'poorer' EU members UK was asset stripping. I think you'll find it was Netherlands, Germany, France etc they WERE coming from .. and UK is in relation FAR poorer than them.

But why would nurses come from France and Germany if ,as is alleged, the pay is so bad?
