EFFICACY DATA FROM RCT OF PFIZER BOOSTERS Short read: very effective at reducing symptomatic infection. Maybe the Delta-specific vaccine is just the original vaccine as three shots, not two. Maybe this was always a three (or four) shot vaccine.
95.6% relative vaccine efficacy against #Covid19 after a booster shot with our #mRNA vaccine, during a period when Delta was the prevalent strain. These are the first efficacy results from any randomized, controlled vaccine booster trial. investors.biontech.de/news-r…

Totally this. I have been disgusted by the lack of moral fibre of so many people who should be standing up. I mean, what are people actually scared of? People say to me: "Oh, Dave, you're so brave for speaking." Like, really?! Is this China? Or the Soviet Union?
Interesting discussion with a colleague yesterday. Many public health and IPAC professionals in Ontario understand aerosol spread but won't speak about it *because of peer pressure*. 20 months into a global pandemic. Peer pressure, like this is 8th grade. Grow up.

Following your commentary & that of others who’s advice I value I have just bought my own small CO2 monitor. I agree it is an easy way to assess the risk you may be taking in an indoor space as we head into our living with COVID future and sits nicely with ongoing mask wearing 🙏🏼

I would love to take credit for the idea of "chronological parochialism", but it must go to Bertrand Russell, writing in 1936. I wish he was on Twitter.
The same battles all over the world, again and again. When do we shed the parochialism, not just of place, but of chronology? We must learn from the experience of others and from ourselves in past times. Please, we must.

"Stories, not facts" are what persuade most people. Critical to the vaccination and health promotion message.
Super helpful article for pregnant women. I’ll be sharing this with my patients. “What convinced me to get the COVID vaccine while pregnant” abc.net.au/everyday/what-con…

Not a parody account. Who knew that parts of Canada were amongst the most stupid, reactionary and ignorant? Lethal ignorance, shameless ignorance, belligerent ignorance. Like this. 👇

If businesses can install perspex screens all over their joints within a matter of days (which many did last year), they are more than perfectly capable of putting up public CO2 displays. Time to mandate airborne contagion #NPIs . They're not restrictions, they're protections.

#COVID19 infection levels increased in those ▪️ in school Years 7 to 11 ▪️ aged 50+. There were early signs of an increase in those in school Year 12 to aged 24 years, and infection levels were highest for those in school Years 7 to 11 ow.ly/dGrD50GrY2Y

Public display of CO2 in each movie in a movie theater in Japan. This shows ( in this case) low risk of transmission of COVID or other respiratory diseases. This can be done everywhere at low cost. #covidCO2

"Kids don't spread" says @MCRI_for_kids, so that's ok. OBVIOUSLY.
THREAD: Some numbers on Covid and kids since 1 Sept 2020. For 5-14 yr old kids: Whole of Autumn term (rise of Alpha) through to spring: 239K confirmed cases. Summer term starts low, then Delta. April - August another 285K cases. Since 1 Sept, 336K cases *so far*. 1/7

A stroke of genius to locate a COVID ward on the top storey of a cancer hospital, when the health ecosystem still does not fully understand, and therefore mitigate effectively against, airborne transmission.
Covid ward in a cancer hospital. Is this really the safest option? Would it be unreasonable for cancer patients to be concerned? Particularly after deaths in recent days in a local aged care facility & continued transmission within the facility. Staff & residents @YouAreLobbyLud

I know they are trying, but given the tsunami of gaslighting and false reassurance to date, how on Earth are cancer patients, for whom an infection may be catastrophic, supposed to have confidence in this?
