1st, there are three levels of security classification for the US Government:
-Classified
-Secret
-Top Secret
Each one of those have increasing degree of sensativity.
I'll cover those first 3, but please know there are "additional" descriptors confusing levels we'll get to.2/
To sum up @TheJusticeDept statement.
Since the warrant was successful excituted, we’re ok with “some” of what occurred to be released, and why.
So far Trump hasn’t.
Also, the AG approved it.
At approximately 9 AM this morning an armed subject attempted to breach the Visitor Screening Facility at #FBI Cincinnati. After an alarm and a response by FBI special agents, the subject fled north onto Interstate 71.
A quick review…a short thread 🧵
Former Secretary of State had to testify TO congress for 11 hours WRT Benghazi. The GOP led Congress had TEN separate investigations. One of those included former Secretary of State @mikepompeo found NO WRONGDOING by the Obama Admin.
1/
The same Secretary of State additionally endured additional scrutiny in her private server.
Ivanka shoots emails out on commercial web mail, in her capacity as Advisor to POTUS. The GOP looks the other way…
2/
We ALL knew in late January that Trump took classified info to his home. @USNatArchives asked for it back because Presidential papers are Federal Property (it’s more complex than that, but hey…)
Trump blew them off, the GOP ignored it. Who listens to the archivists?
3/
A quick Google on your phone tells you taking of classified materials - doesn’t matter if they are FOUO or TS/SCI - you’re gonna get investigated. The higher the classification, the more detailed the investigation becomes.
4/
Breaking the law has consequences of the “Fuck Around and Find Out” variety.
For the @FBI & @TheJusticeDept to investigate WTF a former POTUS, everyone is putting their careers on the line. This is way beyond Watergate, or Iran/Contra, or Teapot Dome (google it)…
5/
This is bigger than Clinton getting a blow job (ah, the good old days of 1998). Bigger than HUAC
Certainly bigger than any Mafia/drug bust.
This WILL have repercussions of historical proportions.
Students a hundred years from now will glance over Dred Scott & Vietnam.
6/
There will be chapters in school textbooks depicting Trump and how everything he touches, dies.
Books will be (already are) written by key players detailing just how craptastic the Trump Admin was.
7/
We are living the curse “May you live in interesting times.” And it’s gonna get more interesting. So buckle up.
Will we see trials for treason? 🤷🏽♀️
of course thought I’d be alive for FOUR impeachment trials.
Good luck.
