Pigeon fancier fined: In Feb., Yovanis Cruz, who keeps racing pigeons, pleaded guilty to killing a protected sparrowhawk in his neighbour’s garden using a catapult. The incident took place in December and was captured by his neighbour’s CCTV camera. Cruz was fined just over £800

This was one of our blue colour-ringed peregines, originally from West Bay, Dorset. He & his sister fell from a collapsed nest. After a check over he was released, ringed and found in Belper two years later where until a few days ago he was the breeding male @RapBiol @HamishRS

The update is that it may have hit a car on the bridge according to another witness. It’s def been shot, just not confirmed how recently. I’m sure more from RSPB later. Please keep a look out for these special birds and their safety.
