About those vaccine exemptions: the only valid exemptions are issued by the Ministry of Health. And once it's issued, it generates a vaccine pass that's absolutely identical to the standard vaccine pass that double vaxxed people have. 1/3

Man the vaccination effort in Counties Manakau has been amazing I feel like they could easily be the most vaccinated region in the country in a couple of months Such impressive work by the teams out on the streets

Interesting, there really does seem to be an 8 day periodicity to the case numbers in this delta outbreak

Hi @MattyMcLean The lemon or vinegar isn't there for flavour - it provides acid to thicken the reduced cream It's chemistry :) You can use other acids, lime/balsamic vinegar/Chardonnay vinegar etc but you do need an acid

Hey @Breakfaston1 It would be better if you used "percent of TOTAL population" when talking about how low vaccination rates are in Northland etc It's not 76% It's under 50% That's why it's a problem

If you read any thread today, make it this one. Clears up misinformation about omicron while also pointing out the many devastating harms wrought by alarmist clout-seekers. Immense gratitude to @tomtom_m for this scathingly eloquent analysis and rebuke.

With Auckland cases steadily dropping are we starting to get back into the range where the tracing teams can keep up?

The shopping crowds have definitely returned to Auckland City Centre this weekend. But although covids very much still here, the pavement widening measures are gone, back to 4 underused lanes! We really need those bus build outs and blocks back please @AklTransport @hotcity_akl

If you are sequencing Omicron (B.1.1.529) COVID genomes with the “Midnight” panel (e.g. using @nanopore) it looks like there might be one region that is dropping out, based on the sequences submitted to GISAID (N=68). Potential quick fix 🧵 (work with @osilander)

Really good piece about what we (don’t) know about the omicron variant Sorry but it will take weeks before we have any certainty
I wrote a piece on what we know about #omicron Yes, I actually spent enough time off the phone and twitter to write a proper article… Thread to come tomorrow, taking a night off science.org/content/article/…

This quote from theguardian.com/world/2021/n… “It’s all speculation at this stage. It may be it’s highly transmissible, but so far the cases we are seeing are extremely mild,” she said. “Maybe two weeks from now I will have a different opinion, but this is what we are seeing."
