I did not say having a will would completely avoid lawyer fees, but it certainly helps. That's why I said "even better, a trust."
If you’re gonna get on here and attempt to educate at least educate yourself first. Having a will does not cut out lawyer fees. A trust is the only way to avoid it.

And I'm completely confused why you co-signed this person's tweet when it's NOT accurate.

In addition to the statutory compensation an attorney may receive compensation for such things as property sales and transactions, tax returns, handling audits or litigation (including will contests and contested accountings), These fees are higher the longer the probate takes.
No it does not. Lawyer fees are statutory.

Yes it does! It means that the defendant has expressed his/hers wishes clearly and that money in Probate won’t be waisted on arguing things out. Probate is really expensive. You don’t want to go through it. “Save thousands of dollars by avoiding excess fees on probate

They’re replying to you saying lawyers fees are set by statute. They said there are fees that go beyond the statute. Helping you out because it seems you’re having some trouble.

I saw the movie Call Jane last year. It stars @ElizabethBanks as a housewife excited about her second pregnancy, until she finds out she has a medical condition that will likely kill her if she carries the baby to term.

This takes place pre-Roe v. Wade. She's required to seek approval from the hospital's board for a "therapeutic abortion" in order to have the pregnancy terminated. The board is all men. They deny her request. She's left with the choice of seeking an illegal abortion or die.

If I'm remembering correctly, the doctor (or someone in the hospital) stealthily slips her the number of someone she can call. She goes and finds a backwoods grungy apartment of some amateur abortionist and flees in terror.

She later stumbles upon an underground network of women helping pregnant women get safe, secret abortions. The group is led by Sigourney Weaver.

I won't spoil the rest of the movie for those who wish to see it, but it was surreal watching it knowing that all of these women were putting their safety and freedom at risk for something that in 2021 (when I saw it) was completely common and legal. Now here we are in 2022.
