Replying to @the_tweedy
Its peculiar how folks default to "sounds like you can't, so just quit" whenever a disabled person is discussing a systemic barrier. How hurtful to assume the problem only exists within the disabled person body. Sounds suspiciously like ableism. I dont like this.

A note to Joy Ming, @SharonHeung, @shiriazenkot, and @imadityav: The term is #DisabilityDongle, not "accessibility dongle". And I should have been named and credited. Especially in a paper about "accessibility research bias." @CornellCIS #CitationalJustice dl.acm.org/doi/pdf/10.1145/3…

The thing with citations is that it's not just about credit, or about claiming an idea. Citations materially affect access to opportunities, particularly for marginalized scholars, particularly for marginalized scholars to whom the practice of networking is inaccessible.

My cousin had a commitment ceremony with his girlfriend this past weekend because if they were to be married she would lose access to Medicaid and they would be unable to afford her insulin. Just sharing in case you forgot about how much of a hellscape our healthcare system is.
