Liz Truss is letting Tory sleaze fester on her watch. On-loan lobbyists, kamikaze Budget booze ups, naked conflicts of interest. No ethics in her Downing Street. Enough is enough. Only Labour will clean up politics and restore standards in public life. independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

Clear thread….we have to talk about Brexit, and politicians on both front benches need to face up to it also.
I am sorry to be the bearer bad tidings but I’m afraid to say it IS still all about Brexit and it WILL still all be about Brexit for some time to come.

I wish we stilled lived at a time when this would so obviously have been a parody. Still makes me laugh though 🤪
The #AntiGrowthCoalition led by Labour includes unions leading strikes stopping people getting to work and protestors gluing themselves to roads. We’re on the side of the hardworking British public.

Agree - but equally important prime ministers ensure their Cabinets reflect the diversity of views within their party (otherwise they risk agreeing policies that their MPs won't support and being forced to u-turn)
Listening only to likeminded people leads to mistakes. All politicians, however strong their convictions, should seek diverse, objective advice from civil servants and other experts. They don’t have to follow it, but they should make sure they hear it.

“She had a good go at the anti-growth coalition. But isn’t the truth that bc of #brexit, British growth is much lower than it would’ve been. It is you, this government, who are the anti growth coalition.” Well said @krishgm 👏👏👏 #trussageddon #TrussOut

All you need to know is that this is Jacob Rees-Mogg, pictured with his nanny. Not his children's nanny. HIS nanny, who still looks after him. He is a cabinet minister, and 53 years old.

If my mortgage payments go up £300-500 a month, that's basically my household economically inactive. No local spending power in cinemas, restaurants, cafes, shops, or family days out. Also, no/less savings toward a pension. Crises now & crisis timebombs. But growth, yeah?

It’s ironic that Truss calls out so called “Brexit deniers” as being part of the so called “anti growth” coalition, when Brexit did more to damage growth than any other action by this govt, something that they refuse to acknowledge. We are not the Brexit deniers, THEY are.

The Bank of England has said its £65bn intervention in bond markets helped to stave off a pensions “spiral” as it pinned the blame for the turmoil on Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-Budget. telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

That's the reality as a result of poorly thought out policy by Kwarteng.

This is @KwasiKwarteng in the Commons a year ago: "There is absolutely no question of the lights going out or people being unable to heat their homes. There will be no 3-day working weeks or a throwback to the 1970s. Such thinking is alarmist, unhelpful and completely misguided."
