Vg thread. In fact the Govt just passed @IloraFinlay’s amendment making palliative care a NHS service - the task now is to see that properly implemented, not make it legal for doctors to kill patients they think would be better off dead
70% of funding for hospices in this country is provided by charitable sources. Instead of focusing upon expanding the provision of palliative care to lessen the reliance on charity we’re instead focused on legalising euthanasia. Welcome to our post-Christian (dis-)United Kingdom.

Innovation, like science, requires collaboration. If we continue to be blocked by the EU from Horizon, other international programs, like #Eureka, become even more key. To Lisbon @ukinportugal for today’s #Eureka #GlobalInnovationSummit of 47 nations to deepen UK collaboration

Inspiring meeting with wonderful Wiltshire hosts and their Ukrainian guests. Some official processes still need improvement, but I'm v proud of our community, the council and the government for making this scheme so successful gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/…

There are better & worse ways of processing asylum seekers off-shore though ofc. Not all forms of off-shore processing are created equally. The EU’s way of doing (in effect) off-shore processing is undoubtedly one of the worst ways you could do it however.

Sovereignty does not mean total independence of action, any more than personal freedom means no obligations to others. But something is wrong when foreign courts can tell us how to control our own borders; or how to regulate trade within the UK itself. 1/

These are breaches of the proper relationships between soveriegn states. As in all relationships, interdependence includes limits on interference. The ECtHR ruling and the NIP are the occasion for a reset of relations with the institutions of Europe. 2/

I hope this reset can be discussed coolly and with goodwill. I don't think bellicose language on either side helps much. 3/3

What a story Polly - absolutely agree. Max respect to @RNLI volunteers. V glad you’re ok
The story of my rescue by ⁦@RNLI⁩ is up on their website 👇. It’s fundamentally a story of incredible volunteers and a charity sector the whole country should be proud of. There’s also a link to donate, should you want to. I have (obviously!). rnli.org/magazine/magazine-f…

A growing number of dissidents within conservatism view legacy institutions like the Federalist Society as ultimately hostile to core commitments that ought to inform the right, say @SohrabAhmari, @PatrickDeneen and @ccpecknold. nyti.ms/3xo8gzH

Well put. What a terrible shame
Nine Elms. 😞 London’s greatest opportunity for a generation to create thousands of homes in a beautiful new neighbourhood of walkable #GentleDensity & instead we did towers in space (again) ….
