much like parrots. they like to interact and repeat vocalizations based on context so its easy to get them to give the right 'answer' to the things you say and do

It is a bit surprising, but I know quite a few humans who are very impressive.

They're part of the Corvid family (or genus or something, I don't know) it includes Rooks and Crows too. They're the geniuses of the birds in that they can think, plan ahead, calculate, reason and invent tools.

Witches would train ravens and crows to memorize recipes and steps to spells. Not sure if this was because of illiteracy or secrecy, but still really cool - FireStarter
