“[Trump] became obsessed with retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman… It was surprising how animated one army lieutenant colonel was able to make the leader of the free world.” @MarkTEsper

I strongly supported Obama for President, but today’s Democratic Party has been hijacked by extremists

What have we learned about human cognition and social media? Twitter, Facebook, TikTok have taught us that there is no idea so perversely idiotic, no 'hot take' so foolish, no belief system so incredibly ignorant, that they would not garner substantial support among the masses.

My intended meaning seems not to have come through. I’m (much) less interested in how Right propaganda promoted a creepy notion of liberty than in why progressives largely stopped voicing support for liberty at all—as if only right-wingers should value it.
Scholars of recent political discourse (esp. US): anyone know a good scholarly treatment of how the word/concept “liberty” became the near-exclusive property of the Right? (It wasn’t such when I was young.) Please consider a RT if you don’t know but think it matters.

Don’t fall for the Kremlin’s talking points: The prospect of Ukraine joining NATO was a threat to Russia’s ambitions, not its security.

NEW: Trump's political action committee spent $375,000 in donor money to rent office space in Trump Tower — even though the PAC has no presence in New York and the operations are all being run out of Florida. Trump is pocketing the money. “It’s a huge scam,” said one former aide.
