Today, Josephine Baker becomes the first American-born, first Black woman, and first entertainer to be inducted into the PanthΓ©on. As a civil rights activist and World War II resistance fighter, she shined on stage and off. May her memory continue to inspire future generations.

And these data points reinforce the above explanation. Unemployment benefits are opposed when Black and other non-white people are assumed to be benefiting…but when white Republican anti-vaxxers are involved - Red State Leaders are extending benefits.
Red states are paying unemployment benefits to people who quit or are laid off after refusing vaccination. The GOP had previously decried unemployment benefits and fought to eliminate them. Now FL, IA, KS & TN are paying people to remain unvaccinated. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

I don't know quite how we do it, but we need to figure out how to name that the COVID vaccine is necessary and harmless BUT ALSO name that the aftermath can be rough, and do so seriously enough to force a paid sick leave mandate for recovery from annual vaccination.

I find it hilarious that right wing Twitter thinks it’s such a massive own to point out that Democrats used to be the right wing, racist, pro-KKK party in the South, like those of us who actually embrace history don’t know that. The reversal of the two parties is part of history.

Yeah it’s been a steady trend since before the vaccine rollout, largely due to the lack of mask mandates & social distancing in red states. Now it’s compounded by the lack of vaccine mandates. Stark example, TX surpassed NY’s COVID death toll in July 2021. rawstory.com/texas-deaths/

THIS is the big difference in the WH decorations and celebrations this year: shared joy! Thank you so much, FLOTUS...
Join me in thanking the over 100 volunteers from the local area who helped decorate the White House for the holiday season! As we look to a new year full of possibility, may gifts from the heart light our path forward. nitter.fdn.fr/i/broadcasts/1Yp…

Trump's attempt to keep his involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection a secret is being heard right now by a three-judge panel of the Circuit Court of Appeals, District of Columbia. The judges seem ... skeptical of Trump's demands. huffpost.com/entry/donald-tr…

This thread right here. The reason we have so many new variants is low vaccination rates β€” in poorer countries, by circumstance; in ours, by choice. The U.S. ranks 58th in vaccinations. 58th!! And people are profiting off of spreading ignorance. Anti-vaxxism is the variant.
I’m losing my Covid patience🧡 I’ve tried to reason with the unvaxxed. I’ve directed some to medical pros. I don’t judge but hear them out and steer them to facts. The unvaxxed love to say it’s about choice. But you know who doesn’t have a choice? My 3 kids under 5. (1/3)

On closer reading, I am absolutely dumbfounded that anyone who considers themselves a scientist would write this. It mis-represents B cell development and activation in Lamarckian/Lysenkoism terms /1
Yes, the vaccine does change your DNA, but only indirectly, as I try to explain in my latest Forbes piece here forbes.com/sites/stevensalzb…

1/ A vulture can fly up to 400 kilometres each day in search of carrion. Little should it care whether this flight takes it from one country to another. The vultures of Spain, however, skirt around the Portuguese border with uncanny accuracy.

This should be the No. 1 story in America right now. Hands down. We will have few, if any, national elections that aren't contested if Republicans lose. And many stand to be overturned by partisan hacks. And the Dems are doing little to combat washingtonpost.com/politics/…
