COP26.tv is a live-streamed news and info channel offering an alternative view to mainstream media. Our goal is to explain why reaching net-zero carbon by 2050 is too late and to listen to voices from the Global South.

Excellent point, Jon. You might also think that @ForestryEngland would have the wit to go ask the 100s of UK growers who are running businesses on #peatfree compost how they succeed with it. ‘It didn’t work for us’ is surely the lamest excuse in #horticulture. #ClimateCrisis
Replying to @guardian
You'd think that the forestry folk of all people would have access to the raw materials to make their own #peatfree composts. Just think how much leaf mould alone they could make, which is a superb growing media component.

This is super-exciting. We're launching a new channel that'll run for the duration of the climate talks in Glasgow: cop26.tv/ Our voices will be heard! I'm hosting a daily show. Please join us.

The ‘we’re working on it’ responses from public bodies and the peat industry are, like those of the horticulture sector, genuinely pathetic. You haven’t been working on it nearly hard enough, and we all know it #peat #peatfree

Some Tory MPs are trying to push the idea that the UK doesn't need to take action to eliminate our carbon emissions because *we're only responsible for 1%*🤷‍♀️ That's plain wrong. And the record needed to be put straight - so I did

I'm leading a debate in Parliament today about #COP26 & why #ClimateJustice means UK must go much further & faster to ensure we limit global temperature rise to 1.5C This is what it's all about👇 (Credit to Bob Dylan - this is harder than it looks😬)

This, a 1000 #peatfree times over. The UK #gardening industry, infested with the same dangerous ideological urges as government: consumers can CHOOSE their way out our #climate & #nature crises by making better *choices*. Only choice that matters is to leave peat in the bogs.
Replying to @Saralimback
Which of course, yet again, puts the emphasis for change on the consumer. The peat can still be used, snd I’ll bet be the cheapest, but consumers will need to make the choice. And what about nurseries, growers? Where’s the expectation on them and how are they being persuaded?

I’d bet on some of this being *paint* that some idiot has chosen to pour down a sink or drain (it doesn’t take much). Please don’t do that. It causes widespread, pernicious pollution. If the white stuff is milk – it does happen – then it’s a catastrophe for aquatic ecosystems.
I see streams of mauve Rivers turned blue White slick from outfalls Raw sewage too And I think to myself, what a wonderful world 😥

Capitalism isn't going to fix the biodiversity crisis. Make space for nature - don't buy 'stuff' for it.

Dear @BBCr4today @amolrajan @BBCJustinR will you please invite @KevinClimate onto the programme tomorrow, at 8.10am, to respond – on behalf of our voiceless climate – to government rhetoric on our #ClimateCrisis? We urgently need the painful home truths in this thread👇to bite.
1/4 The @bbcr4today discussion on climate change with @amolrajan & @BBCJustinR misses the key issue of the imbalance in responsibility for emissions. 50% of CO2 arises from the activities for just 10% of the population. Worse still the top 1% emit 2x CO2 of bottom 50%!

We need to have a serious discussion about the climate and ecological emergency. I don't usually watch the TV but I've been watching it for nearly 2 weeks whilst house sitting. It's now crystal clear that there is mass misunderstanding about this crisis.
