This profile is obsolete. I'm (still) a rank and file UFU member who felt compelled in 2016 to call out lies from certain politicians and all of the media, on an unprecedented scale (Herald Sun front page stats prove), that falsely defamed firefighters for political gain.

I am tweeting this as a pinned tweet just to confirm the semi-retirement of this profile. I am tempted to delete it, but, it may have historical value.

(This profile and my writings under this name *should* have value to any genuine scholar of media. The 2016 CFA dispute is a perfect case study of across-the-board mission failure in the Australian media. Tacitly admitted to by Speers on Sky, of all people & channels! PM me.)

I might pop up now and then on this profile as it relates to the purpose of the profile. I am not otherwise active on Twitter.

But who knows what's coming after or leading up to the next state election? I hope, whatever the outcome, we won't see a return to politicians and the media trying to score points by publicly denigrating people who devote their careers to serving the community.

If we do, l guess l might have to fire up again - but if so, a new profile is best, and I'll link it to this thread.

All the best @JamesMerlinoMP. It must have been daunting stepping into the role of emergency services minister, given the media environment at the time. And you wore it to an election, successfully. Staring down bad stuff for the common good - bravo.

Matthew Guy needs to apologise and beg forgiveness for lying his arse off and defaming 3000 firefighters in 2016, if in 2021 we are to believe "the Liberal National Party is focused on rebuilding our system of integrity and honesty in government". #springst

He also ought to explain this statement with respect to the 2018 Good Friday pairing scandal, after which he defended outright deception in Parliament as a legitimate means to an end.

(I'm still disengaged from politics and media. I just had to comment when I stumbled on this story. I really do want to forgive people who admit guilt and seek forgiveness. But until that happens he's just piling lies upon lies.)

And you can see how disengaged I am even with the calendar, lol. *2022. Cbf deleting and reposting.

This is really great news. Three cheers to all involved, especially to the UFU and Mick Tisbury in particular, who has all along been the prime driving force for awareness and action on PFAS.
In a new randomised clinical trial, we found regularly donating blood or plasma can reduce blood PFAS levels. These “forever chemicals” don’t degrade in our bodies. @mptaylor66 @BrucePLanphear @MiriForbes @yordankakrastev @Macquarie_Uni @SFU bit.ly/3rfQ8Wn

I am enjoying my retirement, but l really have to say I can't stand the current ABC News headline methodology. It's pathetic. I assume l don't need to spell out why.

I think this profile has served its purpose but could I say in parting, l hate the ABC's new headline methodology. I go there for news and l click away straight away because every headline reads like something out of a gossip magazine. I just want what's happened.

When professional firefighters called for adequate resources and staffing, Katos accused us of 'stomping on' CFA volunteers. It seems he has changed his tune?? How about an apology, Mr Katos?

Here is Katos specifically slamming the provision of professional fire services in the vicinity of Armstrong Creek, in 2017.

It's good to see Mr Katos finally standing with community safety, and dropping the deceitful, damaging political narrative of professional vs volunteer. But is his repentance genuine, or does his stance merely flap in the shifting breezes of political opportunism?

.@TimSmithMP, "let people down?" You have let common morality down for many years. Your regret sounds genuine. How about turn it into some real soul-searching, realise how broadly morally bankrupt you were, commit to fixing that, and go back and urge other Libs to follow suit?
