This profile is obsolete. I'm (still) a rank and file UFU member who felt compelled in 2016 to call out lies from certain politicians and all of the media, on an unprecedented scale (Herald Sun front page stats prove), that falsely defamed firefighters for political gain.

I am tweeting this as a pinned tweet just to confirm the semi-retirement of this profile. I am tempted to delete it, but, it may have historical value.

(This profile and my writings under this name *should* have value to any genuine scholar of media. The 2016 CFA dispute is a perfect case study of across-the-board mission failure in the Australian media. Tacitly admitted to by Speers on Sky, of all people & channels! PM me.)

I might pop up now and then on this profile as it relates to the purpose of the profile. I am not otherwise active on Twitter.

But who knows what's coming after or leading up to the next state election? I hope, whatever the outcome, we won't see a return to politicians and the media trying to score points by publicly denigrating people who devote their careers to serving the community.

Matthew Guy needs to apologise and beg forgiveness for lying his arse off and defaming 3000 firefighters in 2016, if in 2021 we are to believe "the Liberal National Party is focused on rebuilding our system of integrity and honesty in government". #springst

He also ought to explain this statement with respect to the 2018 Good Friday pairing scandal, after which he defended outright deception in Parliament as a legitimate means to an end.

(I'm still disengaged from politics and media. I just had to comment when I stumbled on this story. I really do want to forgive people who admit guilt and seek forgiveness. But until that happens he's just piling lies upon lies.)

When professional firefighters called for adequate resources and staffing, Katos accused us of 'stomping on' CFA volunteers. It seems he has changed his tune?? How about an apology, Mr Katos?

It's good to see Mr Katos finally standing with community safety, and dropping the deceitful, damaging political narrative of professional vs volunteer. But is his repentance genuine, or does his stance merely flap in the shifting breezes of political opportunism?
