When I tell friends, family members and others I meet in daily life, like my dentist, that I’m an editor for climate change and environment, often I get a variation of the question: “What kind of stories do you do?”

My highly effective method for finding contractors to do various things to our new house is: -Google the thing -look at like two company websites and then some article about all the ways such people could scam and/or kill you -get overwhelmed -post on Facebook for recommendations

(I promise I am not being hoodwinked by shady bloggers who think you should never disinfect things or whatever, I'm literally talking about like, the EPA being like "careful there are several dangerous things a bad contractor could do to your air ducts")

In my defense all the "air duct cleaners could scam and/or kill you" articles recommend asking neighbors and other local clients about their experience with companies you want to hire and that IS effectively what asking Facebook is.

So hippos are vegetarians devoted to skincare who will also murder you? Inspirational.
Fritz the baby hippo! 🤩 Hippos spend the majority of the day soaking in water or mud to keep their skin moist and bodies cool.

Ah to spend the majority of my day soaking in water or mud to keep my skin moist and body cool.
Everyone in this horror movie keeps holding flares above their heads and all I can think of is the time my dad did that and the embers rained down on him and burned a million tiny holes in his parka

I mean they have bigger fish to fry (murderous aliens to fry with flame throwers, in fact) but I am still concerned about their parkas.
