This is my opinion on classrooms given the coming Omicron surge for which there are new vaccines in the pipeline

@sailorrooscout says that there is no such thing as T Cell exhaustion.

Yes my joke is not fully original yes, look at this t cell exhaustion from sars cov 2 insight.jci.org/articles/vie…

My T cells are “exhausted” but of reading so much nonsense by non immunologists!

People keep asking me if sars cov 2 could alter T cell function to other pathogens and tagging me Absolutely And we need to look at T cell "exhaustion" 1/6

Now before you get into a tiffy, Brians, you need a real definition of "exhaustion," not the kids' version According to EJW and others, "exhaustion" can be a temporary state to reduce immunopathology 2/6 nature.com/articles/s41577-0…

In JCI Insight, Loretelli et al found functional differences in the T cells between people with mild covid and no covid, where the people who had covid had decreased responses to other pathogens insight.jci.org/articles/vie… 3/6

btw JCI insight is a nice journal where I have a first :) and you can also see my specialty there Fas as it pertains to t cells. here we see fas enrichment in the recovered's cd8s and look FasL is up in acute illness. consistent w my conjectures. Anyway we continue... 4/6

When they treated these "exhausted" cells with anti-pd1, their function was restored 5/6

So you can strawman "exhaustion" all you like, the fact is there is a state of PD1 function that dampens pathogen responses following mild covid-19 Now can anyone tell me how this may be relevant today? 6/6

If you’re still following COVID minimizers— those that tell you that COVID is mild or that try to downplay severity by drawing distinctions without a difference (e.g. hospitalizations "for" vs. "with")— now’s the time to unfollow them. They’ve been lying for clout, here’s proof:
Breaking News: More than 75% of long Covid patients in the U.S. were not hospitalized when they were first infected — yet months later, they were experiencing symptoms that were diagnosed as post-Covid conditions, a large study found. nyti.ms/3LqdrE4

For those of you that have not been afflicted with long COVID— consider yourselves lucky. Between 10%-30% of all persons with COVID (regardless of severity or vaccination history) will develop long COVID. Every time you get COVID, you’re rolling the dice. Don’t risk it. (10/n)

Germany will buy two new Covid vaccines for €830 million ($870 million) in preparation for fall, announced health minister Karl Lauterbach today. An Omicron specific vaccine was ordered from BioNTech and a bivalent vaccine will be ordered from Moderna. welt.de/politik/deutschland/…

.@IDSAInfo was Vinay Prasad not available? You are platforming several people who actively undermined public health with bad science and worse science communication. Save the money on air fare and get Lucy McBride and Margarita Makary to speak instead, they are local🤦‍♂️
