Completely agree. It鈥檚 鈥渃loud native鈥 vs 鈥渃loud hosted.鈥 If it鈥檚 got instances, VPCs, security groups, etc. it鈥檚 the latter and I鈥檓 less intrigued.
I'm a simple man. If I see an #AWS service requires VPC, I'm not interested.

I'm a big fan of @forrestbrazeal and the creative work he does for the community. His recent note about how he almost lost the ability to create music inspired me to finally record and share this song. So here it is: "Goin' Serverless - A #Serverless Folk Song". #cloud #devops

Name an app that seems to get worse with every update. I'll start: Evernote. #Evernote #Disapointing #MakeItBetterNotWorse

5 years ago I had to explain #SingleTableDesign every time I talked to a @DynamoDB user. Today I get to wake up and read posts like this. Truly amazing. #ILoveMyJob
#DynamoDB & Single-table design Year or so ago: I had to explain in detail to make engineers understand the concept. Present day: Engineers propose single-table design during architecture discussions. Very satisfying!! #Serverless #AWS @awscloud

Excited to be wrapping up my first Day-1 at @awscloud I was first drawn to AWS by the amazing technology (#serverless)... but the more I dealt with the people there over the past few years I fell in love with the culture and philosophy. #BePeculiar #CustomerObsession #Day1

Just finished migrating a personal website from #EC2 to #AWS #S3 static hosting. It took less than 30 minutes. Lower cost. Less maintenance. More secure. Better performance. A no brainer. At this point, ignoring the benefits of #Serverless might be a sign of insanity.

Recent posts about @goserverless sending your AWS credentials to their servers prompted a TOS review: app.serverless.com/legal/ter鈥 Most troubling find? You must inform your users that their personal information is available to Serverless. Wait. What?! #Serverless @austencollins

That moment when an entire new business goes live an #AWS account that has *NEVER* had a single EC2 instance. #Serverless

When creating a new #AWS #Cloud9 environment, it would be nice if the platform option was defaulted to the "recommended" Amazon Linux 2, instead of defaulting to something *other* than what is recommended. #AWSWishlist #Serverless

One much less talked about impact of the 11/25 #AWS #kinesis outage was account creation. I happened to be creating a new account that day and it took nearly 6 hours for the "Account Ready" email to be generated. Makes me curious what parts of account creation depend on kinesis.

S3 "Reduced Redundancy" storage is mostly deprecated; stop using it. In most regions it costs *more* than Standard storage and gets you absolutely nothing but a worse SLA. #awsfacts

This is why #SingleTableDesign is superior to multi-table. Numbers don't lie. Understand how to model data in #NoSQL if you want performance. @DynamoDB

Every time I get a new laptop my annoyance that Telnet is not installed by default is reignited. Really #Microsoft? Why must you make life difficult despite yourself?
Straight from API Gateway 2.0* to #AWS #StepFunctions without the 位 broker in between. Yummy! *HTTP APIs is still a TERRIBLE name aws.amazon.com/about-aws/wha鈥

Point 2: 'DynamoDB perf is consistent.' DynamoDB is going to perform the same at 1GB and 10GB as at 1TB and 10TB. It will perform the same in your dev environment as in production. This is important and underrated. (cont.)

Office Hours, raw and unfiltered tomorrow 06/23@11AM CDT (GMT -6). I will be building a data model for a Twitter-like service live in NoSQL Workbench and taking questions in chat. twitch.tv/thedynamodbguy @DynamoDB
So far I have one request to explain how to model a Twitter style messaging service, so I will be discussing that use case for sure. If you have something specific you want to discuss send me a PM.

If remote work during a global crisis had turned out to be even modestly less effective, that would have been a reason to consider it post-pandemic. The fact that most teams seem to have just pushed on without missing a beat means the office as we know it is never coming back.
Recognizing that most of us have personally been less 鈥減roductive鈥 at times during this pandemic, do you also feel that your *team* has been less productive while remote? Anecdotally, I feel we鈥檝e been accomplishing at least as much.
