Disgraceful and disingenuous tweet by Macron. The decision was a constitutional one on the law not on the moral issue, and French abortion laws are anyway as restrictive as the Mississippi law at issue in Dobbs.
Abortion is a fundamental right for all women. It must be protected. I wish to express my solidarity with the women whose liberties are being undermined by the Supreme Court of the United States.

.@hgurdon notes well that majorities of parents, including among those calling themselves Democrats, want to be the arbiters of what their children are taught, and how. Keep turning that tide! On education, the tide is turning in favor of parents washex.am/3OgM95t

I’m in the mag this week w a piece on the future of pro-life activism. The states are where we’ll see the most immediate success, but the federal govt is the key to victory if our goal is to nationally eradicate abortion and the reasons women seek it out. washingtonexaminer.com/polit…

Anyone genuinely interested in reducing “gun violence” should want to tackle the criminal misuse of handguns, writes @hgurdon. Instead, rogue prosecutors, inspired by radical left-wing ideology, are negligently refusing to prosecute criminals. washex.am/3xKEGEH

It's not just voters casting ballots who are abandoning @ChesaBoudin and his ilk. It is also other Democrats, writes @hgurdon. They're tossing out or tactically suspending left-wing orthodoxies faster than Californians are fleeing to better-run states. washex.am/3O66Gcl

As shocking as the price now makes it to fill your gas tank, it’s still a marvel that you can transport your whole family for an incremental 20 cents a mile, writes @hgurdon. When gas prices soar, it’s a blow to our pocketbooks. But also against freedom. washex.am/38Vz4Ps

I found your book-banners, and they're not the parents trying to have a say in their kids' curricula.
I’m at Amazon’s Seattle headquarters, where about 30 Amazon employees are staging a die-in during Amazon’s Pride Flag raising ceremony in protest of the company’s continued sale of what they say are transphobic books.

Ignoring behavior that makes learning harder and mastery of a subject less likely does racial minority students no favors at all. It handicaps them, writes @hgurdon. "If you normalize and reward failure, you get more of it." washex.am/3x4mR4n

An irremediable problem with big government/socialism/left wingery — call it what you will — is that it prompts people to delegate compassion to the state. It is dehumanizing.
"As state programs expand, people come to understand the social contract in a new way." It becomes "increasingly difficult for citizens to understand why they should have *personal* responsibilities for anyone that they did not voluntarily choose or accept"--that is, a baby.
