As a Trauma Surgeon and survivor of #GunViolence I cannot believe the audacity of the @NRA to make such a divisive statement. We take care of these patients everyday. Where are you when I’m having to tell all those families their loved one has died. @DocsDemand #Docs4GunSense
Someone should tell self-important anti-gun doctors to stay in their lane. Half of the articles in Annals of Internal Medicine are pushing for gun control. Most upsetting, however, the medical community seems to have consulted NO ONE but themselves. nraila.org/articles/20181102…

Not only are we not going to “stay in our lane”, but we are going to do everything in our power to ensure that Americans in communities all across this nation our protected from these senseless tragedies.

This is Not about being anti-gun, and the polarization that @nra brings to this conversation demonstrates the lack of interest in coming together to provide common sense solutions.

The majority of Americans have a lot more in common than we have that divides us, and it’s about time that the leadership of @nra recognizes that and stops this unhelpful rhetoric in an attempt to make this issue about something that it actually is not!

Our lane is patient care. As long as people survive (or not) shootings and live with the sequelae, as long as parents grieve an accidental death of a child, as long as suicidal impulses can be translated to near certain death because of guns, it's in our lane. AntiGSW, not Anti2A

As a trauma nurse, I'd just like to add that patient education is also our lane. The goal of healthcare is prevention, not just treat and repair.

When it comes to defending the profits of gun manufacturers, the @NRA knows no limits of decency.

Ya know, Doctor, sometimes I am as dense as a neutron star, but who better to address the problem but the members of the medical profession? Oh, wait...there is that pesky bill that Congress passed, to prevent the CDC and others from studying this as a public health problem. 🙄

The NRA acts as if bullet holes were created by an act of God rather than a dangerous product that they promote for gun manufacturers.
