The new iPhone 13 Pro Max with a Terabyte of storage still only has USB 2.0 on its sole lightning port. If we assume only 5% overhead /error correction on the entire transfer, that would take over 5 hours to transfer or backup the device.

Airdrop uses Bluetooth 4.0 to setup an adhoc (peer to peer) Wifi connection. In theory it should be a gigabit per second or so. I have never seen speeds like that though. 802.11ax <----> WiFi 6
