What cab drivers in Tokyo drive. Purpose built Toyota Taxi , wheelchair accessible, Hybrid with a better pure electric range than the LEVC (80 miles) and the cost? £26,000 London cab trade getting shafted again.

I wonder what type of range they have on those !

An onboard petrol generator functions as a range extender, offering up to 640 km of range, of which 130 km will be pure electric.

We need that

Big time It’s basically ready to be a London cab, just add the silly unnecessary tight turning circle and it fits the bill. Just goes to show you a taxi that cost under 40k is possible with a decent manufacturer backing.

Don't they use a similar model in New York ?

I think they use a Toyota of some sort but this is one built for the Japanese market specifically called Toyota JPN Taxi.

That isn't purpose built for London. Any OEM that sees our price won't undercut it by that much , they will run off our meter. Also, it must have a turning circle.

It needs a few mods just like the Nissan & Vito did to meet the silly conditions of fitness which are placed upon us including the turning circle , pho’s can do 8 point turns Willy nilly and most drivers in London can wait , is it really a must these days?

Re range, I’d like to speak to a japanese cab driver and ask if they actually get 80 miles. Because LEVC were touting 85 miles on a single charge in the beginning 🧐
