Boris Johnson says today that it "gives me the greatest pride to lead a country where you can love whomever you choose to love... and be free to be whoever you want to be." Here's some of the other things he's said.

You think maybe it's possible his views and understanding have changed over 20 or so years?

Haha yeah he’s a real reformed character, donchaknow!

Has he then acknowledged his mistakes and apologised for what he's said or written?

Quite the reverse.

It might be better to ask as to what behaviours Johnson has exhibited in the last 20 years, that might even begin to suggest that he has changed?

It does seem strange that bearing in mind how his party has vilified single mothers for so long that he is trying his best to personally create as many of them as possible.
No. Clearly not.

If he’d shown contrition and apologised then yes you’d have a point because even the worst bigots should be allowed to change if genuinely seeking to do so. That isn’t the case here though.

He has been challenged in recent years on those comments (among others) and has declined to take the opportunity to disavow nor apologise. It may be political calculation to maintain the more hateful aspects of his “base”, but they are more likely to remain his own views.
