Share this clip of my father. We must study him beyond the end of ‘I Have a Dream.’ (and that’s taken out of context, too) #MLK #MLKDay

Until you end the filibuster, keep the names of John Lewis and Martin Luther King, out of your corrupt, lying, hypocritical filthy mouth.

Dr. King was a radical critic of racism, capitalism and militarism. He didn't die. He was assassinated. And many, including Regan, fought the national holiday we're not commemorating. If you haven't read, in entirety, his speeches, you've been miseducated & I hope that you will

I left them with this: People who oppose today what he stood for back then do not get to be the arbiters of his legacy. The real Dr. King cannot be commodified, homogenized, and white-washed and whatever side you stand on TODAY is the side you would have been back then.

Read this MLK quote from 1957 @SenatorSinema and @Sen_JoeManchin Still happening, using same tactics, including the filibuster, and you are allowing it
Replying to @emarvelous
“All types of conniving methods are still being used to prevent Negroes from becoming registered voters. The denial of this sacred right is a tragic betrayal of the highest mandates of our democratic tradition.”

this @RonBrownstein piece is great because it reflects, and really centers, how _the Supreme Court_ is part of the political situation, and the risks to democracy, that we face: theatlantic.com/politics/arc…

Wasn’t sure if anybody was reading the website that runs fake story after fake story about various Americans being tried at Gitmo and executed, but it ran an imaginary story two weeks ago about Newsom getting the death penalty from a Gitmo military tribunal, and

As Sinema/Manchin hold up voting rights, there's an example from Florida of what Black voting rights activists see as an existential threat to multiracial democracy: a white Republican is just refusing to concede to the Black Democrat who won by 60 points miami.cbslocal.com/2022/01/1…

Hi you have this much cash because you’re not spending it on paying teachers, maintaining schools, and paying caretakers enough money that they can stay in the profession.
“How does the state have so much extra cash during a global pandemic? The short answer: a strong economy, despite the pandemic, and conservative spending.” Read more at: idahostatesman.com/news/poli…

This #MLKDay, I do not want to see our legislators celebrating if they are not willing to put our voting rights over the filibuster. If you are standing in the way of our sacred right to vote, you are standing on the wrong side of history. #DeliverForVotingRights

.@emilyslist It's day three, it's MLK weekend, and a gaslighter is keeping our fundamental rights hostage. Today would be a good day to say you have dropped @SenatorSinema. What is your answer?

“What we do know about Trump’s corrupt conduct is already extraordinarily terrible “But what actually happened may be considerably worse than what is currently known. Let’s not be under any illusions about the potential gravity of what McCarthy may well be hiding.” @ThePlumLineGS
Let's be clear: Kevin McCarthy's refusal to testify to the 1/6 committee may be helping cover up possible Trump crimes. McCarthy can likely detail whether Trump saw the riot as a means to obstruct the electoral count -- an official proceeding. New piece: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

They are planning to steal the next several elections and one of the biggest problems in stopping them is there about five or six dozen center left opinion makers in DC who have decided that this is either No Big Deal or a strategic failure of democrats.
From Arizona: The Trump rally is a series of speakers — candidates & officeholders — who are nearly wholly focused on the “stolen” 2020 election. That is the basis of this event & this election.

In case you didn't know this, the U.S. Postal Service instituted its annual shipping rate changes on January 9 and they're an absolute gift to Amazon and UPS. This is a concerted effort by a Trump appointee to privatize U.S. mail and it's inexcusable he's still in charge.

The gaslighting here is too much to handle. There’s no equivalent btw #January6th — when a mob attempted to hang you, Mike Pence — and defending our democracy by enacting voting rights. I'd dismiss this as more @GOP garbage if your lies weren’t such a threat to nation’s future.

My nightmare scenario for 2022 — with apologies for reading too much Tom Clancy as a kid — is still the PRC taking advantage of a military confrontation in Ukraine, should one arise, to take offensive action against Taiwan.
This is (sadly) a persuasive thread. If Putin is going to invade Ukraine and de facto annex more territory (which would be in line with his two decade trajectory), there are a lot of reasons to believe that '22 would be the time
