What if “collapse” isn’t the sudden thing people imagine. What if it’s a long slow process of institutions becoming less trustworthy, governance becoming less functional, energy becoming more expensive, conveniences you once took for granted disappearing

Twilight zone for real, quite disorienting. Wonder how much longer cool celebrities continue to support the dems. Obviously the social pressure is as high as ever but it’s almost like the dems are actively trying to be less cool

The wealthy democracies are not doing Ukraine a favor with aid and weapons. Ukraine is doing the favor—huge sacrifice of lives, its cities bombed—to defend Europe and the values of liberty against Putin. My op-ed: wsj.com/articles/this-is-no-…
The West welcomed Putin and offered him 2nd and 3rd chances. Now Ukrainians are fighting for their lives and their nation, and for the free world. Let it not be as a proxy, but as a partner writes @Kasparov63 in @WSJOpinion : wsj.com/articles/this-is-no-…

Hilarious to watch a bunch of self-proclaimed liberal Twitter warriors try to dunk on ppl for thinking cocaine orgies are cool. No wonder dems see the youth vote slipping… I remember when democrats used to be the cool party smh; find a better line of attack.
If Madison Cawthorn manages to win his primary, it will prove that his voters just don't give a fuck about anything and maybe want an invitation to one of those cocaine orgies

How exactly diversity is strength: a 🧵. The ideology of xenophobic extremism in the USA is back in the discourse for terrible reasons and I want to address one part of it - the idea that diversity is weakness - from the perspective of a military historian. 1/

I’ve disagreed with @DanCrenshawTX in many policy debates but I would be happy to be the first person to punch anyone in the face who denigrated him in this way. The man served honorably & these repulsive partisan attacks from a trust fund baby who did not will NEVER change that
Tucker Carlson derisively refers to @DanCrenshawTX, who lost his eye while serving our country as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan, as “eye-patch McCain.”

This from a well followed blue tick account, himself white. To put the point mildly it's not ideal messaging. But it also seems so hubristic to claim anti racism requires knowing this sorta humanities talk. People have been anti racist a long time without needing EdTheory degrees

What if I told you that the 99% of Americans who think both of those guys/books are totally nuts just are less likely, by orders of magnitude, to buy & positively review these books. Statistics, they’re wild.

Yes, by crazy people- and just because a few crazy ppl think some other crazy person’s manifesto is cool, does not mean the term manifesto connotes that something is cool. This does not have to be hard.

I think I’ve heard it used both positively (less often) and negatively (much more often), but I personally associate it with crazy ppl, or maybe communism, and certainly not with insightful, admirable writing lol

Yes, I think the problem here lies with the crazy minority who would view manifesto as having a positive connotation, and I see no reason to accept *their* redefinition

I am not scared of becoming a minority because I believe in the individual’s ability to overcome all circumstances and achieve success in America. In fact, my field is dominated by minorities who succeed in every possible way. Why would I doubt my own ability to do the same?
Questions for the people who are scared of becoming a minority: Why is that? Are minorities treated differently?
