Vaccines are not just about saving your own life; they also help save the lives of the people around you.
@JohnKingCNN: "I'm going to share a secret I've never shared before: I am immunocompromised. I have multiple sclerosis. So I'm grateful you're all vaccinated...."

A new 1,200-page government report recommends mass homicide charges against Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro for the deaths of more than 300,000 Brazilians in the pandemic. Now let’s investigate Trump for his lies and mishandling of the crisis in the US. nytimes.com/2021/10/19/world…

I have never heard of Travis Tritt (the country music singer who says he won’t hold concerts in any venue that requires masks or proof of vaccination), but I guess he’s heard of me. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Eric Trump is right. President Biden has a lot of nerve going to his own private home in Delaware. Instead, he should go to Mar-a-Lago and charge Secret Service agents $650 a night to stay in his own hotel. That’s the way real gangstas roll. 😉 washingtonpost.com/politics/…
Eric Trump criticizes Joe Biden for spending time at his personal property instead of the White House. Irony is deader than dead.

This is tragic. Jasmyne Cannick interviews the 16-year-old Jamaican boy who was raped, kidnapped and assaulted by a group of men who lured him through a gay dating site.
I spoke briefly with the Jamaican TEEN who was kidnapped, robbed, set on fire, and having his penis nearly severed last week after being set up to meet a man on a gay dating site. If you are interested in showing any support for him, DM me for details. soundcloud.com/jasmynecannic…

Should we remove statues of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, or any of the 12 presidents who owned slaves? I can see value in that gesture, but I’m more focused on removing the vestiges of slavery, racism and white supremacy that still exist today. nbcnews.com/news/amp-video/m…

This guy has spent his entire career bluffing his way through life, evading responsibility, dodging accountability, and filing frivolous lawsuits to distract and delay. Justice means nothing in America if Trump is not held accountable for his crimes. apnews.com/article/donald-tr…

Congratulations to Melissa Harris-Perry (@MHarrisPerry), who has been named the new host and managing editor of The Takeaway, a nationally-syndicated public radio news program that airs on more than 300 stations across the country.
Thrilled to officially welcome @MHarrisPerry as the new permanent host and managing editor of @TheTakeaway. Her longtime focus on the intersection of race, gender, politics, and power is a perfect fit for the show, and this moment.

Although Colin Powell was fully vaccinated, he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that weakens the body’s ability to fight infections. The unvaccinated are still 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than the fully vaccinated. covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra…

I worked with General Colin Powell in the Clinton White House when he was chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I did not agree with his opposition to gays in the military, but his credibility as the highest-ranking Black military officer, delayed that from happening for 20 years.

In the end, Colin Powell was a man who slowly evolved over his 84 years on earth. He was a Black Republican who ultimately left the Republican Party. He supported the Iraq War but later came to regret it. And he once opposed gays in the military but later endorsed the idea.

And for those who don’t know or remember him, General Colin Powell was, perhaps, the most respected Black person in American politics in the 1990s. He was widely expected to be the first Black president, and his decision not to run was front-page news. nytimes.com/1995/11/09/us/po…
