James Joyce turned 40 on Feb 2 1922 – 101 years today - and left this 5e apartment (it's hardly changed) to deliver Ulysses to Sylvia Beach, his publisher. Like other Dublin writers who settled in Paris, including Samuel Beckett, Joyce remained a British citizen all his life.
