Plenty of movies shot on digital have vibrant imagery full of color and contrast. Digital, when used correctly, is not the problem

I love shooting digital and would never switch to film but the digital workflow has made many DPs very lazy

that was just a dogshit color grade that they used in an attempt to make it look more “1970s” ish like Joker (which was also pretty gross to look at)

It isn't the camera that's the issue. Knives Out is fully digital, but does a pretty bang-up job of looking like it was shot on 35mm.
