Wheelchair users' shoe soles being scuffed is not a plotline Gotcha.
Many wheelchair users still also walk.
Wheelchairs are not only for those paralyzed.
Energy conservation, chronic pain, joint problems, surgery recovery, fall safety, etc.
Just to start with a few examples.
Someday I'm gonna call and bug the Asian* restaurant to find out if I can expect mushrooms in veggie mixtures. As in I crave mushrooms and I want them and I'm worried I have to order dishes with mushrooms specified to get them.
*they have Chinese, Sushi, and Thai
New abortion ban bill introduced in SC Senate would prohibit anyone from telling a pregnant woman that she could go to another state for an abortion, prohibit anyone from driving her there, and prohibits a website from providing info about abortion. This cannot stand.
This isn't CGI, it's a real-life creature known as a sea angel (Clione limacina) found in the cold waters of the Arctic and North Atlantic Oceans.

I think I just realized why it makes total sense why people at death's door would have their life 'flash before their eyes'. Electrical impulses going haywire could easily hit memories buried by time and immediacy. Just a guess but it makes sense to me.
Anyone else get the sense with these women targeting laws, now on the books and being threatened, that they're just declaring that any woman who fails to successfully carry and deliver a birth full term deserves to die?
You can regulate a pregnant body but not a coal plant. You can control the free speech of a teacher but not the money-as-speech of a corporation. You can coerce a child to pray in school but you can’t keep guns out of their classroom. What a world this Supreme Court is making.
And those of us who feel it too strongly have had to learn how to ignore it, or turn it down. When I don't react the way you expect to something it's not that I don't care - it's that I'm spending a huge chunk of my brain constantly regulating my own emotions.
One of the reasons it took me so long to realize I was autistic was that I felt empathy so strongly. This myth has done so much damage, to me and to so many others. It's completely false. Autistic people in general feel _so much empathy_ - but we express it differently.
If you’re going to use the argument against abortion, “You’re saying they should be dead?” first make sure you really want them to be alive & to thrive. All of us. People of color, the poor, the places you avoid. Show me the work. Be in my shoes before you force me to wear them.
Requests to engage in informed consent = refusal now. Didn't you know? Not like patient right to informed consent is a core aspect of medical ethics or anything, right? 🙃
Interesting that the "solved" rate decreases in proportion to the improvements in scientific forensic techniques that make it more difficult to convict the wrong person.
Trying to correct my sleep schedule so I'm back to going to sleep between 1-3 a.m. instead of 7-9 a.m. and it's so hard to stay awake. Hoping to avoid the sleep deprivation migraines. Can't avoid the severe dizzy spells.
