I will be the first to criticize Biden if this is the case. However, there are a couple of reasons to be skeptical. First, there is no federal judgeship open in Kentucky. Second, McConnell does not currently have the power to block Biden's judges.
NEW from me and @adwolfson: President Biden is poised to nominate an anti-abortion Republican attorney for federal judgeship in Kentucky, in apparent deal with Mitch McConnell: courier-journal.com/story/ne… via @courierjournal

Another issue: why would McConnell agree to sacrifice his hypothetical future power over literally **hundreds** of court seats for a single seat in Kentucky?

A further issue, this one pertaining to the credulousness w/ which many have treated this "news" despite none of them having read the pay-walled article: Who is the source? Are they close to Biden? Familiar with his thinking? Or close to McConnell?

The only thing that gives this story any credibility is a quote from Rep. Yarmuth saying he opposes the appointment. However, given we cannot read the article beyond the paywall, we have no way of assessing how Yarmuth came by the info.

For example, did Yarmuth have prior knowledge of this "deal?" Or was he simply asked about it by journalists at the Courier after they had heard about it from someone else? That's important information to have.

Why do people so proudly announce they don’t know how government works?
The end of Roe will be Biden's legacy. Not Build Back Better, not COVID vaccines, not a guns deal, not DOJ's efforts on January 6, not KBJ. Biden's legacy will be the failure to meet the moment on voting rights and Roe.

This is from July 2021. Cillizza was more than confident. He was certain. "If you ever held any hope" that the House committee "would help us understand what happened," you should "give up on those hopes now." Why? Not bipartisan enough. cnn.com/2021/07/21/politics/… via @EricSchultz

Here's the real nugget. Although not explicitly linked, the hard coup's effects aligned w/ the soft coup's goals. Eastman argued in the memo that AZ should be challenged, sending the results back to the states. Then, w/ contested results, the House would decide in favor of Trump.

Crucial overlooked moment in Hutchinson testimony: WH counsel Pat Cipollone seemed to suggest the mob violence might be linked to Trump's efforts to subvert the election. Trumpworld has never conceded this. We talked to legal experts about what this means: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

A Missouri hospital system has stopped providing Plan B, as revealed by sexual assault advocates. Though MO has a total ban on abortion, Plan B is still legal. The hospital system has said the law needs clarifying before they resume providing Plan B. kansascity.com/news/politics…

This is very poor framing. Not all evidence is of equal value. Hutchinson's testimony should be given greater weight than "a source close to the Secret Service," as she was under oath & the cited source could be literally anyone several steps removed from Engel.
🚨 A source close to the Secret Service tells me both Bobby Engel, the lead agent, and the presidential limousine/SUV driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel.

This source was not under oath & we have no way of knowing whether Engel will actually testify to this. Yet the information is thrown out there as if it is of equal evidentiary value as Hutchinson's testimony.

Republicans are only winning the NE-01 special election by 4%, despite the district being R+17. Democrats and moderates are sending the GOP a message — they're angry, and ready to vote.
