I am saddened beyond words by the sudden demise of CDS Gen Bipin Rawat ji, his wife Mrs Madhulika Rawat & 11 other personnel of the Armed Forces. My heart goes out to the families & friends of those we have lost in the tragic helicopter accident today.
We trained together at #NDA. We fought terrorists together in #Kashmir. In the loss of Brig LS Lidder, SM, VSM today, India has lost one of its brightest & bravest officers & I have lost a friend. A decorated soldier, caring husband & doting father, you will be missed, Tony.
Deeply shocked & saddened on the demise of CDS General #BipinRawat, his wife Mrs.Madhulika Rawat & 11 other officers on board in the extremely unfortunate IAF Chopper crash in Coonoor. It is a huge loss to our defence forces & country. My condolences to their families & friends.
General Bipin Rawat was one of India’s finest military officers and an enormously gifted strategic mind. With his demise we’ve lost a stalwart. My condolences to Gen Rawat’s family for his loss and that of his wife Smt Madhulika Rawat.

As India’s first CDS, Gen Rawat worked on diverse aspects relating to our armed forces including defence reforms. He brought with him a rich experience of serving in the Army. India will never forget his exceptional service.
Gen Bipin Rawat was an outstanding soldier. A true patriot, he greatly contributed to modernising our armed forces and security apparatus. His insights and perspectives on strategic matters were exceptional. His passing away has saddened me deeply. Om Shanti.
