It is necessary for @SecBecerra and @HHSgov to act to update HIPAA's Privacy Rule to protect patients from the criminalization of basic reproductive functions.
In the wake of Dobbs, @SecBecerra should immediately begin the @HHSGov rulemaking process necessary to dramatically narrow the law enforcement exception to HIPAA's Privacy Rule. Healthcare providers should not be allowed to snitch on patients for, eg, a miscarriage.Show this thread
