It's safe to say, me and this landlord didn't see eye to eye on no-fault evictions and Section 21. You can listen to the full episode - "Are All Landlords Bastards?" - here... patreon.com/posts/are-all-ba…

What does a strike at an Amazon warehouse look like? @edmundjohnjack and I filmed yesterday's historic strike in Coventry - capturing workers being asked not to cross a picket line, the moment new members sign up, and some great dancing. Give it a watch! invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=oMwK5ZiO…

Blimey. Rod Stewart rings into @SkyNews to say: “I personally have been a Tory for a long time but I think this government should stand down now and give the Labour Party a go at it.”

I’m sure I disagree with @rcolvile on how to make it happen, but this is a persuasive thread on why we need to build a lot more houses.
We've got a big new report out today, endorsed by four former ministers, making a very simple but hugely important case: we need to build more houses. Why? Let me explain. (1/?)

Great explainer from @lewis_goodall about the tight-knit posho network that makes up our ruling class.

Brilliant podcast by @michaeljswalker on tenant's rights in the PRS. The landlord representative here couldn't be more wrong. We work with client's everyday who are illegally evicted by their landlords and in most cases they have never breached their tenancy agreement.

Just finished this from @PeteApps in preparation for a crash course interview. It’s a powerful, infuriating and heartbreaking read. I highly recommend.

I’m used to seeing graphs of everything getting worse since 2010, but this is the perhaps the most arresting. Life expectancies had been growing steadily until the Tories and Lib Dems decided to fuck it up for the sake of ideology.

While wages stagnate, asset owners are rolling in it.
The UK’s net worth was £11.8 trillion in 2021 - up £1.0 trillion on 2020. This was the largest annual increase on record, with land accounting for over 60% of net worth. ➡ ow.ly/Ij0l50MxrHL

Heterosexual dating used to be simple: your papa would match you with a nearby landowner, and if you were lucky, you'd live to the age of 30 before dying in childbirth. So what now? I was joined by @annielord8 and @mlothianmclean to discuss modern love! invidious.fdn.fr/1lt1PdTEKH4

Rather than drive inequality, the dividend of technological change should give *everyone* the platform to live a life of meaning. That requires universal basic services in education, housing, healthcare & transport. Thank you for coming to my TED talk 😉 go.ted.com/aaronbastani

I'm not even joking when I say it should be against the law to require you to ring up to cancel a subscription you can buy online.

I went from principally self-employed to almost entirely PAYE a couple years ago. I've just done my tax return, and my "tax due" has been calculated as higher than my self-employed revenue for the tax year. How is that possible?

"no landlord would evict a good tenant" 🤣🤣 yeah, right... Happened to me because the landlord wanted to hike the rent up by 50% - I'm sure thousands of others have had similar.

Kudos to the GB News producer who found the one (ex) nurse in the country who doesn’t think nurses deserve a pay rise. Give that man/woman a raise!
