Here is Justice Alito complaining that “the media and political talk about the ‘shadow docket’ is not serious criticism” but “feeds unprecedented efforts to intimidate the court.”

Too bad this kind of public call-out can't be met with a duel challenge any longer.

Right. It would be ridiculous for them to hear oral arguments regarding a law that infringes on the constitutional rights of women in Texas. What do you think they are? The Supreme Court?

Many in the US are under the impression that the role of judges+courts is to uphold the law & protect constitutional rights. This is demonstrably incorrect. They simply decide when & for whom such ideas should apply. Women, incarcerated ppl, migrants, etc… not high on the list.

But they let the Texas law go in to effect, so at least for the time being, did they not, in fact, "nullify Roe v Wade?"

That's the shell game. The state of Texas didn't nullify it, the people of Texas through their new right to sue people for abortions did. And the Supreme Court let it all happen while pretending it didn't. Serwer was spot on.
